the season has just come to an end.

our season has just ended 2 days ago, with a silver and a bronze attained by the girls and the boys respectively. the outcomes may not be what we were expecting, however, like what is so often said, in a journey it is the process that matters instead of the outcome. for the girls, we all know that this year's team has faced so many drawbacks and yet overcome them, and there we were, in the finals once again. however, like Mr Soh said in the prep before the very last match of the season, there is never an easy finals. and it was really proven true. the girls' confidence and composure seemed to crumble after the second blow. but it is what sport teaches us: it teaches us that there are times we fall and there is always a chance for us to pull ourselves together and come back to fight again. like what the guys did. after losing to RJC in the semifinals, the guys had to fight for the 3rd position. the match against ACS(I) wasn't an easy one (to the spectators it was probably the best match ever, seeing how Saints really never give up, equalizing the score in the last 2 minutes) in the end, the match was won through penalty flicks.

this journey that just ended showed us that there are many things that matter in sports. individual skills, team coordination, passion for the sport, love for our teammates, drive to play our best, desire to win the match, perseverance, resilience, luck, etc, etc. all these are what make up the beauty of the sport that we play.
the season is over, but the memory of it will be part of everyone who went through this wonderful journey, which is so priceless that i'm sure we all would not trade it for anything in this world.

special thanks to Mr Gerard Danker who just had his last season with SAJC. it's been terrific being coached by such a great coach. and Mr Ben Soh (who will still be here for next year and next next year and next next next year and so on) for everything! and Mdm Ang for being there for every match, and Mr Eng who took beautiful pictures of us in action, and Ms Choy for being rather merciful towards the girls during the trainings when Mr Soh couldn't be there with us. and all the teachers-in-charge who organised the end-of-season party at Jillian's condo yesterday night. and Jillian who's been a great host (i realise that the special thanks goes to so many people that it's not that special anymore but well it is still special!)

15-05-09

this blog has not been updated for so long! i guess you guys understand that we, the blog comm members, don't have all the time in the world, just like you.

anyway, both the boys team and the girls team made it into the semifinals!! (the guys beat IJC and drew with ACSI in the second round while the girls won both matches against AJC and ACJC) we're that close to where we want to be. so, press on, give our 110% or more in the few last matches we're going to play. as the going gets tough, the tough gets going (quote taken from canoeing board haha) we know we are able to make it, now it's about whether we want it that much (and i'm really sure all of us do)

the girls' semifinal was supposed to be today but it was postponed due to the bad weather. it'll be on monday, 8 am.

and tomorrow will be the last pitch session for the j2's! because our season's ending next week (i don't know whether we should be happy or sad)
